The sound of angels
Have you ever heard something you couldn't explain?
We'll pose that as the "question of the week" (let us know).
Voices. Sounds.
There's a website devoted to such things, and while it takes discernment, some of it rings authentic (not to play on words).
The "authentic" part is the tough part.
Sometimes, authenticity is in the eye (or ear) of the beholder.
Said a woman named Debby: "Three years ago, when I was 36, I was going through a very difficult time. I was about to get separated from my husband. This was my choice because it was truly an unhealthy situation for me. I had two little boys. I was feeling very depressed about this whole situation. My husband was driving the van on the highway on a very foggy, misty day. My boys were sitting in the back seats. My husband was giving me another monologue. The next part is somewhat difficult to describe because I had never experienced anything like it before. All of a sudden, I started to hear, or feel in the cells of my body, what seemed like the most beautiful, uplifting music and/or singing... At first, even though I knew this was different, I looked around me to see if my husband or children had noticed... they seemed oblivious. I looked at the radio and saw that it was off. I then decided to just sit back and take it all in. It was so beautiful! It was healing. And as suddenly as it began, it faded away. I took this as a sign that everything would be fine.... and things are fine. I talk to my angels all the time now. I feel very loved and protected."
All in the Name of Jesus.
In Scripture, angels spoke to Mary and Joseph and God Himself was heard on Tabor and in many instances in the Old Testament.
Sounds. Voices.
There are many strange sounds in our time.
Some sound like a trumpet.
But back to wing-like reverberations.
Claimed another (under the title "A Whirl of Angels"), "Lying in bed one night. I had hit rock bottom in my life. Going through a divorce, I couldn't rest my mind and couldn't sleep. As I lay in bed, suddenly a whirl of four angels in a circle swirled above me. I couldn't believe my eyes. They were white, and beautiful. I heard inside me something tell me to rest, everything will be okay. Then they disappeared and I fell sound asleep. When my grandmother passed away I saw her in a light standing by my window just looking at me and smiling. I saw her, not an angel, not a light; it was her with a light shining around her. Then she disappeared. After that she would speak to me, but no one else could hear her. I thought I was crazy, but I could feel her presence. I haven't seen her in quite some time. I hope she is finally resting.
"My last experience was one day when I was in the park and I noticed an angel just standing behind a tree: looking at me, just looking and smiling. I thought I was losing my mind. Angels came to me in my time of need. I am not afraid of the spirits I feel or see. I just take it as angels watching over me."
Of course, we are not to initiate or carry forth actual involved conversations with the "deceased" (partly because we can't be sure it's really them). But we can speak "one way" to them, praying for them and requesting their prayers!
Sometimes, they are allowed to send us signs and messages.
Another alleged account:
"In the summer of 1991 my husband and I were in Cyprus on holiday. Whilst away, my mother was going into hospital to have a bronchoscopy carried out (camera down throat into lungs). She was to go in at nine a.m. and would be out by five p.m. The evening before the test, I was awakened from a deep sleep by the sound of frantic flapping above my head. Initially upon wakening I thought there was a bird or birds in the room. When I turned over and looked up, I saw the tail end of 'something' take off and disappear. I immediately felt I had experienced angels but couldn't figure out why. The next morning over breakfast I asked my husband if he has seen or heard anything. As usual he hadn't. I recounted the story of the night before. He laughed at me and said I had dreamt it. That day was the day of my mum's test. At approximately three p.m. I telephoned the hospital in Scotland from Cyprus to ask how she was. I was advised -- to my horror -- that my mum had arrested and 'died' at the end of the test. However, one of the doctors had noticed this and thumped her chest to bring her back -- which he successfully did. The results of the test showed lung cancer, but after an operation to remove part of the lung, my mum lived for another seven years. I truly believe these 'angels' were warning me of what was going to happen. I have had warnings of deaths or nearly family deaths. To this day I am still convinced I was woken up by the angels who tried to warn me, but were also telling me that things would be okay."
