Where should we all stand? We consider ourselves "Vatican conservatives." That's different in some regards than secular-political-media conservatives but we feel the need to follow Rome, which has 2,000 years of perspective.

Quoting St. James, the Pope this week gave us guidance as he noted that false wisdom is "worldly, material and diabolical, and is recognized by the fact that it provokes jealousies, arguments, disorder and every kind of evil deed," whereas "[true] wisdom, which comes from above, is first of all pure, then peaceful, meek, docile, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, and sincere. That is why it is peaceful, meek and docile; it does not need to be partial, nor does it need to lie; it is indulgent and generous, it is recognized by the good fruits that it bears in abundance."

Please, pass this around. Here is another key guide from author Dr. Henry Makow: "Christianity is a spiritual discipline. It posits two orders: 1) a higher moral order (otherworldly or spiritual) associated with the soul and eternal life, and 2) a lower material or instinctual order associated with this world and the body. The essence of all true religions is to raise mankind up by disciplining the lower carnal order (greed, lust, power) in favor of our spiritual aspirations (truth, beauty, peace, harmony, justice)."

Some feel the compulsion to step back and begin contemplating in quiet instead of listening to the rancor of the media. It was P. T. Barnum who once said, "If you want to draw a crowd, start a fight."

"I run the Adoration at our parish and a friend who comes weekly always calls [an alleged seer named] Ferdinand to offer him prayers she collects for him to give to those to whom he speaks," says a viewer. "She told me that in her last conversation with Ferdinand he insisted that for the next ninety days people should not watch any television, to pray very hard, go to Mass as often as possible, and Confession at least once a month. She said he was told this just as he has been told other things since the time of his mystical experiences. He stressed that this was very serious but without mentioning any particular catastrophe he was told about -- just that this period was very serious."

There is a real and fascinating disconnect in the United States (on all sides). Do you pray as much as you listen to the radio (or watch TV, or search the internet; to whom are we tuned in)?

Many are those who are intensely concerned, in our roiling times, about various scenarios to do with a new ordering of the globe and governmental control through such things as mandatory vaccination or monitoring devices and quarantine centers. It can reach what may be a bit of paranoia but still we struggle to discern: what's paranoid and what's not? We feel compelled to continue reporting on it -- especially the banking aspects. Last week, we briefly had a video snippet from a woman in the military who claimed to see evidence that the government was readying centers of detention in the event of civil unrest or a pandemic. We removed it because it didn't have enough backing, but still we listen to such claims because so many of you out there are feeling unrest in the spirit.

We'll have more on the "new world order" shortly (including a theory on the so-called "illuminati"). One has to be careful in discernment. We remember one "word of knowledge" that said: "Even the most well-intentioned can be deceived."

And so one must be cautious -- while not disregarding trends of intuition. Is there unrest in your spirit?

It has come to our attention -- through the mail -- that one of history's great chemists, Friedrich August Kekulé, described in his Textbook of Organic Chemistry (1861) how he had a dream from which he developed his formula for multivalent atoms and discovered the famed chemical benzene!

"I was returning [to my lodgings] by the last omnibus, 'outside' as usual, through the deserted streets of the metropolis, which are at other times so full of life. I fell into a reverie and lo! the atoms were gamboling before my eyes. Whenever, hitherto, these diminutive beings had appeared to me, they had always been in motion; but up to that time I had never been able to discern the nature of their motion. Now, however, I saw how, frequently, two smaller atoms united to form a pair; how a larger one embraced two smaller ones; how still larger ones kept hold of three or even four of the smaller; whilst the whole kept whirling a giddy dance. I saw how the larger ones formed a chain... I spent part of the night putting on paper at least sketches of these dream forms."

You discern: was benzene a good discovery -- and did it come from a spirit? (Lo, Kekulé saw a snake in one of his visions).

Thomas Edison was so sure that inspiration came through the supernatural that he spent much of his time trying to invent a device to contact the spirit world.

Is our time a time to also settle into contemplation?

What about vaccinations -- especially for children?

One is hesitant with such advice because one can be harmed without them and apparently in some cases also harmed by them. We are increasingly convinced that at least a percentage of autism is linked to vaccinations children have received since the early 1990s, vaccines fashioned not only with potentially toxic additives but also come from cell lines originating decades ago in tissue from aborted babies.

Is that coming around to haunt us? Are we creating too many synthetics? Are there actually bizarre manifestations in our time of sensitivity to such compounds? Fortunately, this is not true (aborted origins) for the H1N1 vaccine.

A potpourri of questions!

"I've just read your article on the woman 'hypersensitive' to chemicals," wrote John Weigel, a viewer in Ireland. "I'd also like to alert you to the issue of electromagnetic radiation. You've touched on this before but this is an issue that won't go away. Here in Ireland we receive the equivalent of two hundred chest x-rays a year in an electromagnetic environment. Cancers, tumors, Alzheimer's, and leukemia (among other diseases) are growing exponentially. It is particularly relevant in light of Senator Kennedy's death and his use of cell phones. And worse is yet to come: Intel, the microchip manufacturer, has changed its business model, developing a new signal called WiMAX (described as wi-fi on steroids) at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, a formerly Catholic university. This system is being rolled out in Baltimore before heading to Chicago."

That we hadn't heard. But we might point out that brain cancer was once exceedingly rare and is no longer rare at all. It took Senator Kennedy's life the same week famed Catholic newsman Robert Novak (like Kennedy, an ardent cell-phone user) succumbed to the same illness.

What's paranoid -- and what's not!

We would like better explanations from the government on the strange new ailment of Morgellon's disease, the prevalence of autism, and concerns about chem-trails.

If they are nothing -- and nothing to worry about -- please finally put them to rest.

Speaking of rest:

"It's funny how many people I hear almost daily now complaining about how horrible they slept (or didn't sleep), and how terrible their pain is, or how bad their neck and back hurts, or the headache they have that just 'came out of the blue,' or the cold or 'flu-like' illness they just can't seem to shake," writes yet another. "But when I try an explain to them that what they are feeling are the effects of electromagnetic pulsing at night while they are asleep, they look at me like I'm crazy. or worse, they launch into a diatribe of 'conspiracy theorists,' 'end-times nuts,' 'religious zealots,' or any other number of negative reactions. Don't believe it? Then go Google 'The Schumann Resonance.'"
