Fires In California Now Claim More Than A Thousand Homes In Prophetic 'Alarm'

By Michael H. Brown

Story 1

There is probably no single event more emblematic of chastisement than fire. Think of it: fire and brimstone, Sodom and Gomorrah. We see fire represented in both natural and man-made events (from forests fires to Hiroshima). Of course, it is also the symbol of hell itself -- and this is what is so often mentioned now with the intense California blazes: that it is a "hellish" scene, propelled by the Santa Ana winds, which long have been nicknamed the "winds of Satan."

Day by day, month by month, it gets increasingly difficult to be skeptical about the signs around us. The main question is what will follow. We must recall that the last horrific California fire emergency occurred in Oakland in 1991, in that case destroying 2,449 single-family homes and marking the upswing in prophetic events -- followed swiftly as it was by blizzards, earthquakes, record northeasters, and Hurricane Andrew.

Now, in the very backdrop of Los Angeles -- the single most imperiled city in the U.S. -- there are the red licks of flame as background for the Hollywood lots that are cranking out movies like Kill Bill (the most violent movie ever) and Scary Movie 3 (in which a picture of Mother Teresa is blown away by a gunshot) and just constant pornography. In fact, it would do Californians well to heed that the last major disaster in the L.A. area, the quake in 1994, had its epicenter in North Ridge -- where 80 percent of the nation's x-rated videos are made.

Now we will look at the fires and see what they reach. We already note that against all odds the fire has spared the Ronald Reagan Library. An official statement extends prayers for those who have fallen victim. Let us do the same. There is special danger to upscale communities that have built in tinder-dry exurbs.

In the prophecies of mystics, fire is frequently mentioned. In 2 Peter 3:7  it tells us, "By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men." In the alleged secret of LaSalette it was said that "the moon will reflect a faint reddish glow. Water and fire will give the earth's globe convulsions." It added later on that "water and fire will purge the earth and consume all the works of human pride."

It now seems like we have entered a deeper phase of an hour of fire. In Yugoslavia a reputed seer named Julka saw "the whole atmosphere of the earth, from the ground to the sky, as a gigantic sheet of flame." Many are those who have seen an inferno, and of course the third secret of Fatima has an angel poised with a flaming sword. "The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat," says 2 Peter 39:10.

Where will the current fires end? Will they soon die down?  And whatever happens this year, are they harbingers for greater fires in the coming years, fires that will not just incinerate a million acres of forest but also cities and towns unless we convert?

They are signs of the times and they tell us not only that seasons are changing -- that the climate is altering. A few short years ago a chunk of forest the size of England burned in South America, and in Australia fires have thrice raged to the very city limits of Sydney, a city known for its gay and liberal lifestyle.

In Isaiah it says the Lord will come "like a whirlwind, to render His anger and fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire."

In Joel 2:28-31 there are "blood and fire and pillars of smoke."

In 2 Peter 3:7  it tells us, "By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men."

And then there was St. Padre Pio.

Once, when asked what the future held, the great priest replied simply: "Can't you see that the world is catching on fire?"

A Prophetic Week Ends With Questions On What Those Auroras And Fires May Mean

By Michael H. Brown

Story 2

"How mankind responds to this new evil will determine the extent, length, and severity of the first chastisements. These chastisements will differ according to regions, and like the great evil, will not always or usually be immediately noticeable for what they are. In the period also will be a warning that involves not fire from the sky but fear of fire from the sky, and strange loud rumblings."

So said what we call the 1990 prophecy. It is precisely what has occurred: since 1990, natural disasters and other events, including September 11, have jolted us as major regional events, accented again, now, by the historic California fires. Each year we have seen unusual hurricanes or quakes coming along with typhoons or "storms of the century."

The California blazes were a 100-year event, and we are seeing more and more 100-year rarities. As the prophecy said, it has been more the fear of what could happen than what actually transpires: in His mercy, God has halted major loss of life. Thus, what we are seeing so far are really more warnings. Even Hurricane Andrew -- which followed closely on the heels of the 1991 Oakland fires -- killed less than a hundred people.

But these have all been major events, and as the prophecy also said, they would not be noticed for what they are. Chastisements. Not the "great chastisements" said to loom, but certainly precursors. At the same time that California was burning, President George Bush, elected in large part because he is pro-life, announced that while he will sign a bill to ban late-term abortion, the culture is not yet "ready" for a total ban on all abortions. Obviously, he has not made the connection between abortion, other societal transgressions, and the weirdness around us.

Including solar flares. Here's a line from today's Washington Post. "A second huge magnetic solar storm arrived at Earth yesterday, just a day after an earlier one hit the planet in what one astronomer called an unprecedented one-two punch. 'It's like the Earth is looking right down the barrel of a giant gun pointed at us by the sun . . . and it's taken two big shots at us,' said John L. Kohl of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Massachusetts."

According to the newspaper, Kohl, the principal investigator for an instrument aboard NASA's sun-watching SOHO spacecraft, said the probability of two huge flares aimed directly at Earth coming so close together, as they have this week, is "unprecedented . . . so low that it is a statistical anomaly."

The solar blasts created spectacular auroras -- just as spectacular auroras in 1938 were the "great sign" foreseen at Fatima, preceding the Second World War.
