The Seven, a prophetic novel by Michael H Brown  A coming sign? Events by a sinister personage? Disaster? In his first work of fiction, Brown pens the driving, suspenseful, and deeply spiritual story of a mysterious government property that harbors secrets relevant not only to a young cop who tries to investigate strange goings-on, but also to an equally mysterious and incredibly powerful old priest who joins forces with him to solve the mystery -- and try to prevent an end-times-like disaster! A TIME TO DISCERN: WAS THERE SIGNIFICANCE IN WHAT MYSTIC SAID, WHAT STORMS 'TARGETED'?

What's in a picture? A thousands words, and sometimes unexpected formations?

During September 11 eerie visages were seen in the flames and smoke and so perhaps also in the photo to the left of the Gulf rig explosion -- forms that sometimes seem to go beyond pareidolia (imagining forms upon visual stimuli). Might there be representations of good, evil, or the deceased?

And then there are signs in natural events. During wildfires last year near Santa Barbara [below, left], one photo taken as it approached a mission showed the flames and smoke in the form of what was immediately perceived by many as an unborn child. The same was true as Hurricane Ike targeted Texas in 2008, alternately showing a red core on radar that seemed like a fetus or when it circulated around looked like the number "six." (Was there any significance in that Houston was on the verge of building the country 's largest abortion clinic?)

As for oil: Hurricanes Katrina and Rita destroyed 109 oil platforms and five drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.

"'Rita' accounted for most of the damage in a region that ordinarily produces nearly one-third of U.S. crude oil imports, Interior Secretary Gale Norton said in presenting a preliminary assessment report," reported Terra Daily. "'Rita' destroyed 63 platforms and one drilling rig when it tore through the region on September 24 (2005), she said. 'Katrina' destroyed 46 platforms and four drilling rigs when it hit the Gulf at the end of August.

"'Katrina' also caused extensive damage to another twenty platforms and nine drilling rigs. 'Rita' seriously damaged thirty platforms and ten drilling rigs.

"The two hurricanes coming so close together really illustrate how much of our offshore production was affected," Norton told the CNBC network. "We had altogether, with both of the hurricanes, about 2,900 platforms that were in the path of the hurricanes," she said. "We have no official estimate of the dollar value of the damage and the amount that it will cost to repair those facilities, but it will be in the billions of dollars.

"In advance of the hurricanes, crude oil production ground to a halt as Gulf sites were evacuated. A total of 342 platforms remain evacuated, roughly forty percent of the manned sites in the Gulf, Norton said. As a result, ninety percent of crude production and 72 percent of natural gas output is paralyzed, she said."

Signs?

It is also interesting in light of a Serbian mystic Mitar Tarabich (1829-1899), who once wrote, as recorded by his Godfather, who was a priest:

"People will drill wells deep in the ground and dig out gold, which will give them light, speed, and power, and the earth will shed tears of sorrow, because there will be much more gold and light on its surface than in its interior. The earth will suffer because of these open wounds. Instead of working in the fields, people will dig everywhere, in right and wrong places, but the real power will be all around them, not being able to tell them, 'Come on, take me, don't you see that I am here, all around you.' Only after many a summer, people will remember this real power, and then they will realize how unintelligent it was to dig all those holes. This power will also be present in people but it will take a long time before they discover it and use it. Thus man will live for a long, long time, not being able to know himself. There will be many learned men who will think through their books that they know and can do everything. They will be the great obstacle for this realization [self-knowledge], but once men get this knowledge, then people will see what kind of delusion it was when they listened to their learned men. When that happens, people will be so sorry that they didn't discover it before, because this knowledge is so simple."
