New details shed on Medjugorje's priest's death

==================================================

       Rita Falsetto, who had served as secretary to Father Slavko Barbaric of Medjugorje in Bosnia-Hercegovina, has shed more details on his sudden death last month. The priest died on November 24, 2000, at 3:30 pm, after finishing the Way of the Cross up on Mt. Krizevac, which he led almost every Friday with the parishioners and pilgrims. He suddenly did not feel well, say witnesses. "Father Slavko sat himself down on the ground and I ran over to him as he fell into my arms and I watched Father Slavko die and I could not help him," says Rita. "He was gasping for breath, tried to stay conscious, and then finally went unconscious. I was checking for a pulse, but there was none. A doctor arrived who had been coming up the mountain and checked his eyes and pulse, but said he could do nothing."

       The next day, in her monthly message, the Virgin Mary told one of the seers that the priest was already "born into heaven" and interceding. Since that time many have been invoking the holy Croatian priest, who served as spiritual director at Medjugorje -- some with remarkable results.
