What do you say when there's a woman out there -- an "average" woman, a mother, originally from New York, since moved away -- who claims (insists, gently but firmly) that she was told by a voice that New York City, specifically Manhattan, was in for some sort of nuclear event, if not a holocaust?

Pretty frightening stuff. We're always wary of what frightens, which is not a good fruit. It all points up the problems of prophecy: how to sift through claims of precognition -- of knowing things in advance -- and (as Scripture say) how to keep only what seems to be good.
