Special report:
THE COMING TURMOIL
(not for reproduction or re-distribution)
By Michael H. Brown
No matter who won the presidency, we were in for roiling times (I said in a previous "report"), and this I maintain, although the roiling, the tumult, the denouement will come in different ways and in different frames of time than if Hillary Clinton had won.
The election of Clinton, I've felt, would have brought to bear major events in nature (how's that for wild, "fringe" speculation?), while the election of Trump will speak more of major societal events (punctuated, though, by natural events, breaking a sense of calm).
Obviously, this is just intuition. Due to abortion, and a strange spiritual feeling around her that I have discussed in detail in a previous report, Clinton was, in my view, the bigger immediate danger.
But do such things really rely on politics?
If they do, the key word now: turmoil.
We need only see some glimmerings in the protests that erupted in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles Wednesday night: folks, especially young, especially Latino, black, feminist, or gay, who simply cannot and will not accept that Trump has won.
The leader of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards -- who, excuse my saying it, is the greatest current spiritual nemesis of our society, truly, a chilling presence on the national stage -- was all but apoplectic and desperate after Trump won. E-mailing, Richards wrote her faithful:
"Let’s get all these words out of the way: Devastated. Angry. Heartbroken. Outraged. Shocked. Sad. Disgusted. Ashamed. Discouraged. Exhausted. Shattered. And now four more words — the most important ones: These. Doors. Stay. Open."
Defiance. You'll see it start with defiance -- if Mr. Trump fulfills even half of his campaign promises.
On the West Coast, there's already talk of a "Calexit" -- secession of the coast (California, Oregon, and Washington) in the wake of an electoral choice they simply can't reconcile. And while that won't happen anytime soon, for sure:
Hollywood is aghast.
So is Silicon Valley.
The media's haywire.
There will be eruptions in black neighborhoods -- and more of a police reaction to it.
At college campuses, a stupor is segueing into demonstrations of anger.
Might America one day split up?
When one looks at the electoral map of the election, one clearly sees the fault lines along which America could fracture into more than one republic.
One must remember: though slim (not much more than 100,000), Clinton garnered the majority of the popular vote.
It is a deeply divided nation and this will continue, without conversion, during the next decade.
"Immediate" is the key word: the involvement of God's Hand in chastisement (or dissolution) rarely has to do with who is elected but rather the collective morality of the people -- individual sinfulness, tallied in a way only God can total it in every household and internationally.
Will the election of Mr. Trump diminish the incredible state of personal sin? (Or exacerbate it?)
This is not so much prognostication as conjecture: that major events will occur as a purification and are not contingent and conditioned on a single election. But is the timing? What about those who have claimed that the Virgin Mary or Jesus or an angel spoke to them about specific candidates -- and offered dramatic prophecies about this election? What about an Evangelical who a long while ago saw what Catholics might call a coming "illumination"?
While occasionally offering one up for discernment, questions have been raised, in these special reports, about such predictions and their legitimacy on various levels. More on that (with examples) in a moment.
But maintain vigilance. There are many reasons for doing so, as I will now posit. The landscape has shifted -- in a political way, seismically, hopefully for the good. We're in for tumultuous times, on whatever level (or levels)!
Politics and the prophetic: that's our focus in this "special report."
