The Seven, a prophetic novel by Michael H Brown  A coming sign? Events by a sinister personage? Disaster? In his first work of fiction, Brown pens the driving, suspenseful, and deeply spiritual story of a mysterious government property that harbors secrets relevant not only to a young cop who tries to investigate strange goings-on, but also to an equally mysterious and incredibly powerful old priest who joins forces with him to solve the mystery -- and try to prevent an end-times-like disaster!   CLICK HERE

MOVIE THE RITE IS THE WRONG STUFF AND WHILE NOT AS NEGATIVE AS SOME LEAVES A FEELING THAT'S UNEDIFYING

The current movie The Rite is the wrong stuff because though well-acted and excellently produced it gives too much time to the devil; in the end it is unedifying for the Christian -- in short, another product of modern Hollywood. For this reason, we don't advise seeing it. It does bring up interesting points such as whether a demon can read our minds and it shows how indeed we often don't fully believe until we are face to face with evil -- with Satan; a good point to make. The main exorcist is portrayed as sloppy and himself becomes possessed, and in fact those who dabble with exorcism without preparation and proper protection (and faith) are subject to problems (here, we think of a key word: fasting). The book upon which the movie is based was far more sedate and contains much less focus on actual demonic antics.

Satan is strong. He is also a superintelligence. There are good points made with the movie, and it is better than most of what comes out of studios these days (fairly respectful to the Church, except for a few parts; a movie we wanted to like). But there is a flaw in movies that give the devil too much power over priests or portray evil for too long a period (the "dust" can rub off). In the end it leaves a creepy feeling, perhaps as one might expect (but for some of the many reviews that lauded it) and seeks to provoke fear (as any good horror movie does). There is not much else to say except to remember a message from the Blessed Mother at Medjugorje on February 25, 1988:

"Dear children! Today again I am calling you to prayer to complete surrender to God. You know that I love you and am coming here out of love so I could show you the path to peace and salvation for your souls. I want you to obey me and not permit Satan to seduce you. Dear children, Satan is very strong and, therefore, I ask you to dedicate your prayers to me so that those who are under his influence can be saved. Give witness by your life. Sacrifice your lives for the salvation of the world. I am with you, and I am grateful to you, but in heaven you shall receive the Father's reward which He has promised to you. Therefore, dear children, do not be afraid. If you pray, Satan cannot injure you even a little bit because you are God's children and He is watching over you. Pray and let the rosary always be in your hand as a sign to Satan that you belong to me. Thank you for having responded to my call."
