Why are people waking up at 3 a.m.?

by Michael H. Brown

We just received e-mail concerning 3 a.m. Many Christians find themselves waking suddenly at this time (often right on the minute). I've been asking people about this for the past seven years. It often happens to Lisa and me. Recently, while giving a seminar in Connecticut to a group of about 40, nearly half (as I recall the count was 18) said that they often awoke at 3 a.m. and found themselves praying. They read the Bible or if they're Catholic say the chaplet of Divine Mercy or the Rosary or simply pray directly to Christ, which of course is the most powerful of all prayers.

Why three? Some speculate it's because spirits are "unleashed" at that time. Cultists reverse everything Christian and often witches and satanists do their rituals from midnight to 3 a.m. (a reversal of Christ's suffering from noon to 3 p.m. on Good Friday). In those rituals they're invoking demons who may be harassing us. Others believe that it's because 3 a.m. may have been when Christ rose from the dead. Send us your views. From time to time we have reports from e-mail correspondents (we can't vouch for authenticity, but will make clear it is from correspondents, not regular news sources). Maybe we'll get to the bottom of it!
