Upcoming Synod:
Prayer Changes Everything

Since the last Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in Rome, it has become
clear that there are influential pressure groups who would like to change the
Church's teaching on our sacramental life, particularly on marriage,
family life and Holy Communion.

Many are deeply apprehensive about this, and many are blogging and
tweeting about it. Many, too, are feeling that we need to commit to more intense
prayer and sacrifice, as the 2015 Synod approaches.

We would like to invite all who are concerned about this to unite with a
small group of us who will be praying a Rosary Novena from Sept 1 through
Oct 24. The special intention of this prayer is that the deliberations of the
Synod may remain faithful to the constant teaching of the Church,
especially on Marriage, Family Life, and the Eucharist. We are praying that this
will be granted through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the special
protection of the Holy Family. The first 27 days of the novena are prayers of
petition and the second 27 days are in thanksgiving to God for answering our
petitions.

Please join us in this work of intensified intercession at a particularly
critical juncture in the history of the Church. Our prayer is that the
shepherds of the flock will help us pass on to our children the same faith we
received from our parents.

It would be great if people could get together in smaller or larger
groups, and pray the Rosary for this intention, but anyone can join in, wherever
they happen to be. The main thing is that we turn to God for help, and are
united heart and soul.

Please tell as many as possible about this prayer initiative, so that a
sustained appeal may rise up to our Heavenly Father from within the heart of
the Church.

God bless,

A prayer group from Austin, Texas
