THINNING VEIL MAY BE REVEALING DEEP SPIRITUAL REALITIES IN OUR SPIRITS AS WELL AS AROUND US

When we die, we will see beyond the pretenses of this world. Everything -- and everyone -- will be in a new light. On the other side, we will fully understand why someone did something that otherwise seemed illogical or wrong and out of place.

Such is the vision of the afterlife -- as opposed to vision of this world. In the eternal, we will even reflect back and see every single physical detail -- the number of mosquitoes that may have been hovering around our tent when we camped as kids. Right now, we barely see them, let alone count them.

In Heaven, we will also see matters with supernatural logic (instead of earthly rationale). We will see that we were meant to fit into God's view, not our own. Our perspectives will fantastically broaden. A bit of that is occurring right now.

When we pray, and especially when we fast (see the excellent new book we are carrying on fasting), our blinders lift. We see beyond the rationale of the world (which takes so long to spot problems, as witnessed now on the Gulf, and also with Church scandals).

But back to the topic: for some reason -- perhaps due to looming events -- the "veil" is thinning. We are seeing people and things more for who and what they really are. The same is true of ourselves. Heaven and earth have drawn closer -- and in the years ahead, will get closer still.

You can call it a slow-motion "illumination": It is as if the Holy Spirit is bringing things to the surface -- sometimes dark things. We see the fiery volcanoes. We see what can happen when we drill for oil the wrong way. We are seeing the results of hiding (in our lives and in the Church) past sins.

"Pretenses" are dissolving. In some cases, they are being ripped away. The spiritual is manifesting. Images of the holy -- and unholy -- are appearing in everyday situations. The Face of Jesus is seen in a Host while eerie faces are forming in the clouds of a tornado (or fire, or volcanoes). Meanwhile, reports of "ghosts," angels, demons, unusual lights, and strange creatures -- spiritual representations -- are at a high point. We see the explosion of occult shows, ghost hunters, UFO claims (the Indians called them "spirit lights"), abominable "snowmen," possessions. Many are those who are receiving visions or some form of supernatural contact. The truth is coming forth and should be welcomed -- especially when it shows where evil has resided and needs to be extirpated.

Expect much more of this (revelations) in the near-term, before calamity. Notes one writer: "My pastor teaches that evil can put on good, but good has nothing to put on, and that evil will eventually lose its patience and reveal its true self. Whenever a man is after a woman, he always shows his good side to impress her, but after a while he can't hide what he really is."

The solution: goodness in our deepest recesses. Purge evil or it will come out.

"Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we do not lose heart," says 2 Corinthians 4, "but we have renounced the things hidden because of shame, not walking in craftiness or adulterating the word of God, but by the manifestation of truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, Who is the image of God."

Are we seeing our true selves? Are we making sure there is no darkness deep down in our own recesses? Do we still harbor the hot lava of anger, or the fire of jealousy? If we have "opened a door" to Satan, are we making sure we close it (by ridding ourselves of all pride)? Reverse any curse you may have put on someone, and look for the hidden, subtle, masked ways that evil can operate. Where is it with you? Is it in doubt, unbelief, confusion, forgetfulness, indecision, or compromise? Is it in selfishness?

It can even manifest as insomnia. Is this not a plague of our time? Do you feel too tired -- more than should be the case? Are you having trouble sleeping? Some of this is the result of our culture -- the rush-rush hum of modern living, and our technology. Some of it -- such as sleep -- may relate to eating late or simple aging.

But behind such afflictions can also be a spirit.

While we don't usually consider such matters as spiritual in nature, those schooled in deliverance have long included "insomnia" as something that can be caused by the spiritual agitation that is swelling around us. When spirits are cast out, our vision clears. And we rest. We see what is behind many problems or confusions around us. It is a time of reflection. It is a glorious, enlightening time. With the Lord, there is no confusion. As Thomas said, "trust the authority of your own feelings." Know where evil is, but focus on the angels -- who are also manifesting so strongly around us. Join more with Heaven. Your intuition will guide you. Listen to your heart more than your head, in the times ahead.
