Life Missions, Family Healings, by Michael H. Brown, a booklet compilation, overview and close look at the growing claims that family lines can be plagued by problems caused by spirits that come down through the generations -- leading to illness, distress of many sorts, and inexplicable family tendencies! Yet something that a number of priests -- citing Scripture -- claim can be cast away through recognition of the problems, partaking of the sacraments, and diligent prayer. Included is an extremely powerful prayer of deliverance, a family healing prayer, and the blessing for use of sacramental salt! May your family be blessed by it! "For the most part the Church has been looking the other way, pretending there is no problem with evil spirits," charges author Maria Vadia, a Florida charismatic, in a new book, No More Orphans!  "We have been in denial of the need for deliverance, when in reality, everyone needs it!"

So the author claims.

"What am I saying?" she adds quickly.

"There are (or there have been) entry points into our spiritual houses, where the enemy has had legal access into our lives. Spirits of fear, anxiety, self-pity, rejection, depression, addiction, confusion, anger, rage, sickness, pain, sexual immorality, pornography, violence, and so forth are real, and they come into our lives through 'open doors.' Just like regular physical houses, we have doors and entry points as well."

Another author, John LaBriola of California, calls them "toeholds" that turn into "strongholds." Toeholds, footholds, strongholds.

"You may notice an unusual sense of weariness or lethargy," he writes in Onward Christian Soldier. "This may be the result of a draining spirit or a spirit of fatigue attacking you. You may also notice other manifestations such as nausea, headaches, and other unexplained aches and pains. Evil spirits can mimic symptoms of disease and cause actual pain. They can even imitate symptoms of a disease or disorder that has been cured in an attempt to bring you to question and doubt your faith and hope in the Lord."

Said Blessed John Paul II: "It is possible that in certain cases the evil spirit goes so far as to exercise his influence not only on material things, but even on a man's body."

While sin is a key toehold or "entry," so can hidden emotions of jealousy, lust, anger, or resentment.

"Satan operates on the principal of toehold, foothold, stronghold," says LaBriola. "Enticement leads to desire, which leads to sin and left unchecked, eventually, death. Give Satan a toehold and he'll turn it into a stronghold before you've had time to catch your breath.

"When Satan tempts you to be bad, bored, busy, or boastful, he'll usually begin with a toehold, not a stronghold. An unconfessed venial sin might be an example of a toehold. An unconfessed mortal sin is definitely an example of at least a foothold and an opportunity for Satan to lay claim."

Once cast out, we should pray to fill ourselves or those we are praying for with the Holy Spirit.

Now, not all demonic attacks are such. We can often be attacked due to retaliation for holy work, or because someone in proximity to us has spirits attached to him. They jump from person to person. They "attach" to us. Thus, biblical admonitions to be cautious about who is around us.

The point is that open doors need to be shut.

Sometimes, all is takes is one to be cracked just a bit for the smoke to come pouring through.

These spirits can affect us through traumas in our lives as well as sinfulness. And they can affect those who are diligent about attending Mass and complying with Church teachings and requirements, if the spirits have been passed on from the generations ("sins of the fathers").

There are also curses.

They are indicated as lineage issues when there are repetitive problems in a family.

Individually, they are sometimes operating when a problem seems to have no solution. We feel like we are banging our heads against a wall.

The "wall" may be a curse.

These can also alight through ancestral sin or entry points such as occultism, unforgiveness, sexual immorality, unhealed wounds, addictions, and soul ties (due to immoral activity with someone).

The formula, says Vadia:

-- Identify the curse.

-- Repent for the sins of the fathers (going back ten generations)

-- Ask the Lord for forgiveness; apply the Blood of Jesus to your family tree.

-- Substitute the curse with a blessing (for example, if you are breaking a curse of depression, substitute the joy of the Lord).

Decree and declare it broken, such that it will not continue to affect you, nor the generations to come. This is a mission!

Thank the Lord.

Nail curses to the Cross.

And remember Proverbs 26:2: "...a curse that is causeless does not alight."

"How did the curse enter the family?" asks Vadia, a charismatic from Florida who travels the world. "Through the open door of sin. We really don't know much of what our ancestors did!"
